”My father was a close friend of Mr. Harold Davidson in Santa Barbara:
the authority on both Ed Borein and Jimmy Swinnerton. Mr. Davidson and my father
traded
"plunder" on a constant basis and it was only after my father passed away last
summer
that I started going through his hidden stuff. Amongst his things I found the
attached photograph
that Mr. Davidson had given dad when he bought a Swinnerton painting
from Harold.
The photo was taken during the June 1928 Republican Convention in Kansas City.
Weaver - far right -
had been hired along with Will Rogers, Andy Devine and Swinnerton to "cover" the
event by publisher
